Mind reader!

I've wanted to make a game almost exactly like this for years! I've had a lot of practice with these types of puzzles, and yours were often better than mine. The difficulty was perfect, the music was great, the concept hasn't been seen millions of times, and I didn't notice any huge bugs. There's not really much to say with a simple, fun game like this. I hope to see a sequel with a few new tricks up its sleeve! (Hasn't it been about 10 months since you put this up on other sites? You've certainly had time for sequel ideas.)

Psycho responds:

yep, it's also been a few months since i put the sequel on other sites ;) and it'll be on newgrounds today or tomorrow.

Oh boy! I'm doing another one of THESE reviews! :P

+ Graphics are nice and simple.
+ Smooth animation.
+ Mostly fun level design.
+ Background music doesn't make me mute the game.
- Level gameplay can be shorter than the restart time on levels with tough obstacles right at the start.
- Jelly physics often resulted in uneven movement, sometimes throwing me the opposite direction.
- I get pissed after failing at the end of a long, hard level because of the above problem.
- Nothing too new to be seen.
!!! Can get stuck in walls. (Intentional?)
/ Would play a *Cough* longer *Cough cough* sequel.
/ Occasional genre switch and a clever boss would be enjoyable and fitting.
/ Would welcome more obstacle variety.
/ Achievements are all the rage, so why not?
/ Different flavors of jelly?
/ Jelly should turn to liquid when melted so it can slip through cracks and be molded into different shapes. You know, because that would be kinda cool or something. Also should be stored in a jar to maintain freshness.
/ Should automatically record your best times.
/ Should automatically record the new episode of your favorite show.
/ No super special secret surprise succeeding success? Aww...

7/10, favorite. Me likey. :3

Thanks for your feedback! I'll look into your suggestions if I ever make a sequel :)

Good so far...

Was level 2 edited? ... and Midnight Mission? Level 2 is too easy now, and MM is too hard...

Also, Lucky is a terrible level. Well, pretty much any level with 500 portals is bad. I almost decided not to come back to the game after spending too many minutes on Lucky.

Anyway, I like how it turned out and I hope people like my levels. 4/5, 8/10, favorite.

Can't beat Challenge 1... beat the others first...

Zoranan responds:

I know, the first challenge is hard. Ive only beat it once. I didn't edit any of the levels.

I played another game like this on here...

+ Fun, simple, and addictive.

+ Simple graphics worked well.

+ Music didn't make me claw out my eardrums.

+ Great expansion on the multi-perspective dodger/shooter concept.

- The random generation sometimes made walls appear, so I had no choice but to lose a life.

- Would be better if it was synced to the music. It always immerses the player a little more...

Awesome avoid game! Tweak it a little more, make a longer game out of it, and you could have a truly amazing avoider. Gave it a five to bring the score up more than a four would (3.71 was a bit too low), the big gold review number up there is still a 7/10 (Would've been a 7.5 if I had the choice), and it's in my favorites.

Uchiharr responds:

Thank you!
It's not a perfect game, but I made my best to keep it simple and good.
About the random generation, it is something that will involve a little luck. I didn't want players to always complete the game with 5 lives after some practice, if you want to get a high score you will need practice, and a little luck.
It's just a design option, but people don't really seem to like it. I will try to work on something else on new games.
Thanks for the review!

Pretty fun...

+ Fun levels, well designed.

+ Right click proof.

+ Very playable.

+ Saves your progress.

- Ads EVERY TIME YOU LOSE. Yes, they annoy me.

- Level select screen has problems. (Such as, as soon as you select a certain level, you're eaten.

- Is level 21 broken?

Overall: 3/5, 6/10. Favorited. Not a bad game.

chesster415 responds:

The ads may be too punishing, I've taken them out for Newgrounds users, sorry about the being eaten just out of the level select thing, Level 21 was broken sorry about that, I've fixed it now.

A few problems, but not too bad.

Starting score: 5

+ Generally fun (+2)

+ Addictive (+1)

- Orb sticks to walls (-1)

- Deaths reset between levels at times (Intentional? -0.5)

- Level 25's starting point is in the path of a pink stick, causing one death to trigger six more (-1)

- No music or sound (-0.5)

Overall, a fun game, but it needs some tweaking.

areagle responds:

Hi, sorry about level 25. I didnt have time to add sound. When does the death reset? Im not sure i or anyone else has ever experienced that? The sticking to walls may be fixed soon. Thanks.

A mostly fun game with a couple problems.

- The hit detection was off.

- The ball is somewhat difficult to control.

+ The art was good.

+ The level design was, too.

+ Good music (Thank all that is wonderful and covered with chocolate).

* You might want to include more moving objects and powerups/downs. Every good game has powerups now...

Similar games: Ball Revamped series, Ball Revamped fan games.

Now fetch me my spicy cheese sauce. These tortilla chips are pretty flavorless alone.

KyleDaFox responds:

Thank you so much for the criticism, I'll be sure to look over this review if I make a sequel! Thanks again.

Fun puzzle game, even though I failed miserably.

Simple graphics and fonts, though that doesn't really matter much. Happy to see the puzzles aren't randomly generated. It could use a little more, mainly powerups and extra lives. Maybe the top AND bottom (Or even the sides) could move toward the center. Maybe you could have shapes other than simple block holes to squeeze into. How about hard to reach holes for bonus points? Would you be insane enough to have us rotate a certain shape to fit in a certain hole?! Well, anyway, I thought it was fun and addictive, and you should put a little more effort into this idea. I'd love to see at least one future game! :D

Oh, and there should be a button that speeds up the blocks. It's be nice when you know you're about to win or lose.

Turtleboy2870 responds:

the puzzles ARE randomly generated...

Just another shmup.

- No pickups or other upgrades

- Repetitive gameplay

- Nothing that sets it apart from the rest

- Very few enemy types, mostly just straight shots

- Long boss fights, boring attack patterns

- No clear hitbox

- Boring backgrounds

+ Game saving

+ Good ship and designs

+ Movement was excellent

+ Addictive

3/5, 5/10, favorited because it's a shmup. :P Needs more to it. Add some more features, etc.

Recommending The Last Canopy, RaidenX and Space Wing for fans of this genre.

(Note to self: Do more reviews like this one.)

WarpZone responds:

Thanks for the feedback. If I had it to do over again, I'd implement powerups, scores, and more mid-game variety. I do appreciate that you took the time to make note of the good points. I poured a lot of effort into the timer, movement, and collision code.

RaidenX is great. :D I'll look into the other two. Thanks again.

I want to make music and flash animations, but I can't make them the way they are in my head, and I can't settle for less. Oh, and I'm awesome. :P
